Testing with email checklist

The email checklist gives you a one-page overview of all the elements in your email. You’ll see any required elements that might be missing, like your organization name and address or unsubscribe link. You can also review your links, images, and personalization. A green check means that those elements look good to go. If you see a red X, there’s something to review.

View email checklist

The email checklist will display columns for HTML and Text depending on what you’ve created for your design. If only one column is present, it means that your email only exists as that version.

1. In your email campaign, click the Testing tab

2. Click the Email Checklist button

Preview/Download

Click Preview near the top of the screen to access the preview. Use the slider to move between desktop, tablet, and mobile previews of your email. Click the cloud icon to download your email as an image of any width.

Required elements

Pay special attention to this first section.

Unsubscribe link

Your emails must have an unsubscribe link to meet United States and Canadian law, as well as the WordFly Terms and Acceptable Use Policy. If you see a red X, your unsubscribe link might be missing.

Organization Name and Postal Address

Like the unsubscribe link, your emails must have an organization name and postal address to comply with laws and policies. This test checks your Account > Email Settings and searches your email for similar information. Your name and address content can be anywhere in your email for a match to be found—even partial words will count. If the Account > Email Settings field is blank, any address will error because there is no text to compare it to.

A green check means the Organization Name and Postal Address exactly matches the entire organization and postal address from Account > Email Settings (ignoring whitespace).

A yellow warning means the Organization Name and Postal Address matched some of the organization and postal address content from Account > Email Settings.

A red warning means the Organization Name and Postal Address matched none of the organization or postal address content from Account > Email Settings.

While it’s best when there are no warnings, you can proceed with sending if you determine the Organization Name and Postal Address is present and correct.

Links

Double-check that all your links are correct. Make sure all your links use the same protocols for consistency (HTTPS or HTTP). Click links to test redirects. If you see need-url this means that the link field is missing a link. You can also name your links to help with reviewing your click results later in WordFly Reporting or in Google Analytics. You can untrack a link here as well. Be sure to click Save if you add a link name or change link tracking.

Images

Check your image URLs here. You’ll see a link for each image in your email design.

Personalization

In the last section, you'll see any conditional blocks or hand-coded dynamic tags. Double check that your tag if/then statements are correct. Use subscriber preview to test personalization.
