Add an animated gif

Animated gifs can be added to your emails and pages like any other image file. They can be created in WordFly or with third-party tools.

Create your animated gif

  1. In the editor, click on an Image block. Click “Create GIF” to open the animation tool.

  2. Click the + tile to add one or more images at a time (JPG, GIF, PNG)

You can add up to 10 images. Each image you add must be 2 MB or smaller. We recommend uploading smaller images from the start for a better experience.

  3. If needed, you can:
    • Drag a tile to change its order
    • Click the pencil icon on a tile to edit that image using the image editor, e.g., add text to image
    • Click the clock icon on a tile to set delay for that frame only
    • Set the width, height, background color, loop, and fit for the whole animation on the right

  4. Click Save GIF to add the image to your email

Limitations
Each image you add must be 2 MB or smaller.
The finished GIF must be 1 MB or smaller. If it’s too large, try removing a frame or uploading smaller images.
If adding text across multiple frames, for example, the text needs to be added to each individual frame.

Fit
Contain keeps each frame’s own shape. Empty space is filled with the background color.
Cover crops each frame to fill the canvas exactly.

Editing a saved GIF
You can open a saved GIF from your email, page, or media library to make adjustments. Saving rebuilds every frame, so the result may look slightly different than the original.

Images can also be created from the Media library.

Support for animated gifs in email clients

Animated gifs won’t work in all email clients, mainly Outlook 2007+. A workaround for Outlook is to make sure your opening frame is a static image. Send some test emails to see how the animation renders.
