WordFly SMS is available for all your messaging needs in the United States and Canada. It integrates directly with your Tessitura database to import your subscriber lists and deliver opt-out responses back to your records automatically.
Getting started with WordFly SMS involves several steps. Some are handled by Tessitura and some by WordFly, each with its own timeframe. For the shortest activation timeline, the Tessitura and WordFly processes should run in tandem. To help you plan ahead, the timeline below walks you through the entire onboarding process from start to finish, so you know what to expect at each stage and can schedule your activation with confidence.
If you are planning to integrate WordFly SMS with Tessitura, version 16 is required. If you don’t plan to use the integration, it’s OK to move forward and send SMS through WordFly with any version of Tessitura.
SMS onboarding timeline
Step 1 // Get started with WordFly
Handled by: You
Reach out to WordFly to begin your SMS activation.
Step 2 // The Tessitura update
Handled by: Tessitura — Timeframe varies, confirm with your Tessitura agent
Contact Tessitura Support to get queued for the update required to integrate WordFly SMS with your database. The WordFly SMS activation process and Tessitura update will run in tandem.
To use Tessitura-integrated SMS, this step must be completed before you can finish activation in WordFly.
Step 3 // Number provisioning
Handled by: WordFly — 7 to 10 business days on our provider’s side
We confirm by email that your onboarding has started and that our provider is provisioning your SMS phone number for messaging.
Step 4 // Import phone numbers
Handled by: You
We confirm by email that your SMS number is ready and provide you with instructions for importing all the phone numbers you plan to contact into WordFly to be verified.
If you plan to import your list from Tessitura, your database must already be on v16 and the WordFly SMS setup must be complete in the Tessitura environment.
Step 5 // Phone number verification
Handled by: WordFly — 10 to 15 business days on our provider’s side
Once your team has imported the list of phone numbers, we send it for review with our provider. This process will determine what phone numbers are valid, meaning they are active mobile numbers that can receive SMS.
This verification confirms you’ll be considered a safe SMS sender.
Step 6 // SMS test
Handled by: WordFly
We confirm by email that verification is complete and provide both your valid and invalid number files for further processing. We’ll also ask for a test SMS number so we can confirm everything is properly connected.
Final step // You’re ready to send
Handled by: You
You confirm you received the test message. At this point, your SMS feature is ready to use.
Timeframes reflect our provider’s standard processing windows and may vary. The WordFly-side setup is quick once each step clears.
