Segment by email activity

Use segmentation to send an email to all subscribers based on email activity or lack of activity for specific campaigns or any campaign. We’ll also review how to send campaigns to people who received or did not receive a campaign.

 

Segment by people who received or did not receive a campaign

Send a follow-up email to subscribers who received a specific campaign. Or send a campaign to people who did not receive a previously sent campaign. 

 

1. Set up your Email Campaign

 

2. On the Subscribers step, click Use an Existing List, then select the same list you used in your previous campaign

 

3. On the List Summary page, select More List Actions > Segment Your List

 

4. Select Create new segment

 

5. Select Add activity for your segment

 

6. Select Receive

 

7. Further define your segment from the available dropdowns

To include subscribers who DID receive the campaign, select...

  • did
  • send to
  • specific date (select your date)
  • specific campaign (select your campaign)

To include subscribers who DID NOT receive the campaign, select...

  • did not
  • send to
  • specific date (select your date)
  • specific campaign (select your campaign)

 

8. Select Add to Segment

 

9. Select Apply to List

 

 

Segment by opens or did not open

Send an email to all subscribers who opened or did not open a specific campaign or within a specific time period.

 

1. Set up your Email Campaign

2. On the Subscribers step, select or import your list

3. On the List Summary page, select More List Actions > Segment Your List

4. Select Create new segment

5. Select Add activity for your segment

6. Select Open

7. Further define your segment from the available dropdowns

To include subscribers who DID open, select...

  • did
  • open
  • specific date (select your dates) or any date
  • specific campaign (select your campaign) or one of the other options available

To include subscribers who DID NOT open, select...

  • did not
  • open
  • specific date (select your dates) or any date
  • specific campaign (select your campaign) or one of the other options available

8. Select Add to Segment

9. Select Apply to List

 

 

Segment by clicks or did not click

Send an email to all subscribers who clicked or who did not click on a specific link in a specific campaign...

 

1. Set up your Email Campaign

2. Under the Subscribers tab, select or import your list

3. On the List Summary page, select More List Actions > Segment Your List

4. Select Create new segment

5. Select Add Activity for your segment

6. Select Click

 

7. Further define your segment from the available dropdowns

Tip: Name your links under Campaign > Testing > Email Checklist so that the next time you segment you can select links by name.

To include subscribers who DID click, select...

  • did
  • click
  • any date or specific date
  • specific campaign or one of the other available options
  • specific link(s) or any link

To include subscribers who DID NOT click, select...

  • did not
  • click
  • any date or specific date
  • specific campaign or one of the other available options

8. Select Add to Segment

9. Select Apply to List
