The key to a successful copy paste from your Word document into Modern Editor is to use styles in your Word document. Using styles in Word will allow you to copy the tag styles for paragraph, bold, italics, heading 1, heading 2 etc so that your styles are retained when you paste into Modern Editor.

(Note: fine print cannot be copied over from a Word document because it is a class of a paragraph format; all other formats can be copied over from the document.)

Step 1: Set up styles in your Word document

In just a few minutes you can set up a paragraph style, headline style, and any other styles you would normally use for your text.

Follow the steps in this Microsoft support post to learn how to properly apply styles

Apply your styles throughout your Word document. Make words bold or italicized, hyperlink text, apply a heading 1, heading 2 and other heading. Avoid adjusting font sizes for headings, instead use the styles to adjust. We've attached an example of a properly styled document on this support post! Download the example at the end of the post.

Tip: In Word, use the 'Show Style Guides' checkbox to see which styles you have applied. Learn more about this feature from Microsoft.

Step 2: Copy all your styled text from your Word document

Select all of the text from your Word document and use the copy function to copy it all to your clipboard. No need to paste into a text document.

Step 3: Prepare your Modern Editor template with styles

In Modern Editor, before you paste in any text, set up your General Styles. Follow the instructions in this support post to set up your ESSENTIAL > General Styles correctly.

Step 4: Paste your copied text into the text block you have selected and your styles will be retained (use Chrome for best results)

With your General Styles set up, click on any text block in your Modern Editor email and paste in the text content. Your styles will be retained as well as any links!

(Note: This features works in Chrome for PC and in Firefox or Chrome for Mac)
