How to enable Tessitura logging

You've tried importing an Extraction or List Manager list from Tessitura into WordFly and you're running into issues. WordFly Support can do more investigation with logging enabled.

We will ask you to enable a specific type of logging: Tessitura Logging OR Diagnostic Logging

Notes:

  • In order for the logging to be written to the log file the WordFly identity account in IIS needs to have permission to write to the log folder.
  • Once logging is enabled we will ask you to rerun the list import and test your integration in WordFly. Log files should be generated, reply to your support ticket with the log files attached.
  • After troubleshooting is complete, disable logging so that log files are not continuously generated.

TESSITURA LOGGING

Enable Tessitura logging to troubleshoot Tessitura list imports.

How to enable Tessitura logging:

1. Open the WordFly services web.config found in IIS.

We prefer to open the web.config in Notepad++ or another plain text editor, such as Atom.

2. Scroll to the Enable Logging here section.

3. Move the <!-- above <system.diagnostics> to the closing </source> element. Example shown below.

=========================================
== Enable Logging here
=========================================-->

<system.diagnostics>

<trace autoflush="true" indentsize="2" />
<sources>

<source name="Pop.Ems.Tessitura" switchName="VerboseSwitch" switchType="System.Diagnostics.SourceSwitch" >
<listeners>
<clear/>
<add name="delimitedListener" type="System.Diagnostics.DelimitedListTraceListener" delimiter="|"
initializeData="c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wordflyapi\logs\PopEmsTessituraTrace.txt"
traceOutputOptions="ProcessId, DateTime" />
</listeners>
</source>
<!--

4. Scroll down to the <switches> section and move the --> from below the closing </system.diagnostics> element to above the closing </source> element above <switches>. Example shown below:

-->
</sources>

<switches>
<add name="ErrorSwitch" value="Error" />
<add name="WarningSwitch" value="Warning" />
<add name="InfoSwitch" value="Information" />
<add name="VerboseSwitch" value="Verbose" />
</switches>
</system.diagnostics>

5. Update the initializeData path c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wordflyapi\logs\PopEmsTessituraTrace.txt to the path to your WordFly site logs folder.

You only need to update the path to the PopEmsTessituraTrace.txt file.

6. Save the web.config.

DIAGNOSTIC LOGGING

Enable Diagnostics logging to troubleshoot the WordFly-Tessitura integration connections.

How to enable Diagnostic logging:

1. Open the WordFly services web.config found in IIS.

We prefer to open the web.config in Notepad++ or another plain text editor, such as Atom.

2. Scroll to the Enable Logging here section.

3. Move the <!-- above <system.diagnostics> below the first <source> element. Example shown below.

<!--=========================================
== Enable Logging here
=========================================-->

<system.diagnostics>

<trace autoflush="true" indentsize="2" />
<sources>
<!--

4. Scroll down to the </source> of the Pop.Ems section and insert --> below the </source> element. Then, insert <!-- to above <source name="Microsoft.Owin". Example shown below:

</source>
-->

<source name="Pop.Ems.Diagnostic" switchName="VerboseSwitch" switchType="System.Diagnostics.SourceSwitch" >
<listeners>
<clear/>
<add name="delimitedListener" type="System.Diagnostics.DelimitedListTraceListener" delimiter="|"
initializeData="c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wordflyapi\logs\PopEmsDiagnosticTrace.txt"
traceOutputOptions="ProcessId, DateTime" />
</listeners>
</source>

<!--
<source name="Microsoft.Owin" switchName="VerboseSwitch" >

5. Scroll down to the <switches> section and move the --> from below the closing </system.diagnostics> element to above the closing </source> element above <switches>. Example shown below:

-->
</sources>

<switches>
<add name="ErrorSwitch" value="Error" />
<add name="WarningSwitch" value="Warning" />
<add name="InfoSwitch" value="Information" />
<add name="VerboseSwitch" value="Verbose" />
</switches>
</system.diagnostics>

5. Update the initializeData path c:\inetpub\wwwroot\wordflyapi\logs\PopEmsDiagnosticTrace.txt to the path to your WordFly site logs folder.

You only need to update the path to the PopEmsDiagnosticTrace.txt file.
